A brave group of staff from the Spires Centre will be donning their swimming caps and wetsuits in September, in aid of the charity CLEFT. The event will take place in the world-famous Serpentine lake in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday 14th September 2024.
Jane Sibley (Cleft Advanced Nurse Specialist), Marc Swan (Cleft Surgeon), Nefer Fallico (Cleft Surgeon) and Anna Sanders (Assistant Psychologist) will be taking on the challenge of swimming one mile around the well-known London lake. Their training has been ramping up as the date edges closer, and the nerves are certainly creeping in now!
CLEFT is a charity aiming to provide support to people born with a cleft in the UK and around the world. They sponsor research projects in the UK, to help improve the treatment and outcomes offered to children born with a cleft. The charity also works with local medical teams in other countries, supporting treatment for people from lower income countries who were born with a cleft. This is a fantastic charity, and one which many of the Spires team are closely involved with, so it is certainly a worthy cause! You can find out more here: https://www.cleft.org.uk/cleft-mission
