  • Your child has recently been diagnosed with a cleft.
  • We are planning an operation.
  • Your child has recently had an operation.
  • You have requested an appointment because you have some queries / concerns.

We also routinely review patients in this clinic around the ages of 3-4 years old and 7-8 years old, as a midway point between the 5 Year Clinical Review Clinic and 10 Year Clinical Review Clinic.

What to expect

If you have requested this appointment, we will ask about your concerns or questions.

If this is a routine review, the surgeon will have a look in your baby or child’s mouth. For children born with a cleft palate, the speech and language therapist will often play / have a chat with your child in order to listen to their speech clarity.

Sometimes we have visitors in this clinic, often people who are learning about what our team does. If there are too many people in the room, please do not hesitate to request that only the essential clinicians are present.

Who you will see

You might also see a speech and language therapist and / or a clinical psychologist at your appointment
