After qualifying as a speech and language therapist (SLT) from Reading University, I worked in a mixed adult and paediatric post in Essex. As part of this post, I was a link SLT for the Great Ormond Street Cleft Service based at St Andrew’s in Broomfield. This fuelled my aspiration to work in cleft full time and I came to work at the Spires Cleft Centre in Oxford in 2003. I also work as a Principal SLT in the Oxford Craniofacial Unit based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
In 2011 I completed post-graduate training at the University of Sheffield, gaining my MSc in Speech and Cleft. My particular clinical and research interests include assessment and management of velopharyngeal dysfunction, issues related to speech and quality of life and working with people with 22q 11 deletion syndrome and craniofacial syndromes.
