Originally from Italy, I completed my medical degree in 2010 with the highest honours at Sapienza University of Rome. I proceeded to specialise in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, graduating in 2017 with double distinction.
Continuing my training in speciality areas, I have completed a dedicated cleft lip and palate surgery fellowship at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. I have been a full time Consultant Cleft and Plastic Surgeon for the Spires Cleft Centre since 2020.
I am responsible for the management and surgical treatment of patients born with a cleft lip and/or palate from birth to adulthood, including primary cleft lip and/or palate repair, speech improving surgery, alveolar bone graft, lip revision surgery and rhinoplasty (nose surgery). I am passionate about patient experience and outcomes and have introduced service innovations such as the suprazygomatic maxillary nerve block to enhance postoperative recovery and redesigned our adolescent and adult clinic with a strong focus on transitional care.
I am enthusiastic about training the next generation of cleft surgeons and I am very proud to have secured the national Cleft TIG training accreditation for our cleft unit, of which I am the Lead Trainer.
I have a special interest in research as well as surgery. I am the Principal Investigator for the Spires Cleft Centre for the LAHSHAL classification research project and Cleft@18-20 NIHR study looking at improving transition to adult care for young people born with a cleft lip and palate.
I am a dedicated academic and contributor to my field, regularly presenting at international conferences and events and authoring publications within scientific journals.
