Before training as a speech and language therapist, I read Drama at Hull University. After working as an actor-musician for ten years, I changed direction and undertook a Speech and Communication Science degree at City University, London. In 2006 I began working at the Spires Cleft Centre and completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Cleft Lip and Palate Studies at Sheffield University. My role at the Spires Cleft Centre is enjoyable and varied, involving assessment and therapy for both children and adults in a variety of settings. I currently cover the Portsmouth and Isle of Wight area, offering support to local speech therapy services including outreach visits to pre-schools and schools where possible. I particularly enjoy working with very young children, engaging with families creatively to encourage the very best speech outcomes at the earliest possible stage.
